What is the gear range on a Rohloff Speedhub?

In a traditional 27-speed set-up, there is a lot of gear duplicates (or doublets as Rohloff refers to them). The 14 speed Rohloff Speedhub is designed around roughly the same range of usable gears one would find in a traditional 27-speed set-up.

The diagram below from the Rohloff company illustrates this difference effectively. It shows a standard 27-speed derailleur gear system and the Rohloff SPEEDHUB 500/14. There is no difference between the range of gears and the range of effective gears. As you can see, the Rohloff provides evenly increased speeds of about 13.5% each step. The yellow blocks represent usable gears, and the red blocks represent duplicate or redundant gears.
