Protective Padding

When you pack your bike for travel, you'll need something to protect the frame. This is very rugged canvas material sewn to padding that velcros easily around the frame tubing.

1.) Cut and Labeled Padding

Overwhelmingly, our customers prefer to pay a little extra for padding that we have custom cut and labeled for their specific bicycle or tandem.

$199 for a single bike
$375 for a tandem

2.) Standard Rolls of Padding

If you prefer to cut your own padding, then we can sell you the rolls uncut. This is the option most offered by other manufacturers.

$89 for a single bike
$129 for a tandem

Travel Case Options

We have several case options for your new Rodriguez Travel bike or tandem. A tandem you will need 2 cases in order to travel as standard luggage with no up charges. All of our cases are an appropriate size for non-oversized charges when flying. Listed in order of popularity.

Important note: Keep in mind that the largest size that is airline approved is 26" X 26" X 10". Larger size cases sold by some other manufacturers may incur 'over sized' charges.

1.) The Butterfly Hard Case

Our most popular case is named after the 'butterfly' shaped latches used to close it tight. This rugged, hard case protects your bicycle better than any other option.

$420

2.) The Back Pack Case

This is another very popular option. The bike packs into the case just like the hard case, but allows you to strap it onto you back to keep your hands free for your other luggage. Another advantage to this case is the fact that it folds down fairly small for storage. It is not as protective as the hard case.

$255

3.) The Soft Transport Case

This one is basically a canvas bag with a full zipper and handles. This case is not recommended as a protective flight case. But, with the addition of card board inserts (which you can make yourself), we've had many people use these as second cases for their travel tandem. They put the more fragile stuff in a hard case, then use this case for the less fragile stuff like racks, fenders and wheels.

Other Cool Travel Bike Stuff

Through our years of working with travel bike customers, we've found some other specific items that are perfect for use on a travel bike.

Topeak Quick release bottle cage mounts

1.) Quick Release Bottle Cage Mounts

One of the most time consuming parts of packing, or un-packing any travel bike or tandem is removing all of the little bolts that hold on the water bottle cages. Bottle cages not included

We've come up with a solution! Quick release bottle cage mounts. All you have to do now to remove your cage is push a lever and it pops off easily. It goes back on just as easily.

$10 each

Racktime Folding rear rack

2.) Folding Rear Rack

Everyone has their favorite rear rack. When considering a travel bike though, the Racktime folding rack (by Tubus) is our customers choice. Other heavy duty racks are very, very difficult to pack in the box with your bike. This one can fold completely flat with the removal of just 2 bolts.

$55

Tubus Tara front rack

3.) Compact Folding Front Rack

The Tara front rack from Tubus is hands down the best front rack to use on a travel bike or tandem. It folds flat with no effort, and carries a huge load if needed. Any other choice is a pain in the butt on a travel bike.

$145

S&S bike in the box

4.) Professional Lesson

You can learn from the experts, in person, with your bike if you'd like. We will teach you everything you need to know to pack and un-pack your bike as efficiently as possible. These lessons are 'hands-on' so you'll be proficient by the end of the lesson.
